tony romo cowboys qbDallas Cowboys vs Houston Texans Wagering Odds
Saturday, 8:00 pm Eastern – CBS

The Houston Texans play host to the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday night in what should be a very entertaining football wagering preseason game. The starters for both teams are expected to see a lot of playing time and that means points should be plentiful. The Cowboys really want to see their first string offense do well this week so expect to see quarterback Tony Romo throw at least a couple of touchdown passes. The Texans have a high-powered offense of their own led by quarterback Matt Schaub who has the best passer rating of any quarterback in the preseason.

Houston is a 3-point NFL odds favorite with a total of 40.5 at SBG Global.

The Texans are expected to play their starters for at least three quarters on Saturday night while the Cowboys are expected to go with theirs at least for a half. Houston head coach Gary Kubiak said that he wants his team to get a good test and the Cowboys will definitely provide that. The Texans have lost their first two NFL wagering preseason games so they really are putting the focus on winning this one. It is also a chance for Houston to get some national attention as the game is on CBS.

Dallas has really not looked very good on offense so far in the preseason. Romo has been inconsistent and everyone has been out of synch. Romo could have more success this week against a poor Houston defense that gave up 38 points last week to the Saints. The Cowboys are 2-1 in the preseason but it is not because of their offense. They have scored a total of 41 points in their three games so they are averaging less than two touchdowns per game in the preseason. The first string offense has scored just one touchdown in the three games.

Dallas and Houston have met five times in the preseason with the Cowboys holding a 3-2 series lead. They last met in the NFL preseason wagering two years ago and the Cowboys came away with a 23-22 win at home. There should be some points scored on Saturday night but it is worth noting that these two teams play in Week 3 in the regular season so the game plans could be pretty vanilla as neither team will want to show anything fancy.

giants vs ravens wagering oddsThursday night in the 2010 NFL wagering produced a pair of entertaining week 3 NFL preseason odds matchups, as both games served up plenty of scoring. In the first game, the St. Louis Rams pulled off an upset, winning 36-35 as an 8-point underdog vs. the New England Patriots.

The betting public landed solidly on the Patriots in the matchup, pushing the line all the way up to -8.5 at some online sportsbooks. That’s about as high a line as you’ll see for an NFL pre-season game. This one was a solid win for the sportsbooks.

In the second game, the Green Bay Packers rolled up 59 points (yes, that’s right, 59 points) on the Indianapolis Colts, who only managed 24. The betting action favored the home side, but it wasn’t lopsided, but it was a nice win for the betting public side when the Pack rolled up those points.

Over bettors were smiling all night.

Let’s look ahead to a few more pre-season matchups.

Saturday

NY Giants vs Baltimore Ravens Wagering Odds

The Ravens are currently a 4-point favorite for this tilt. Here we have two talented and highly touted pre-season teams facing off in Baltimore. Manning is ready to roll since suffering the head gash versus the Jets earlier this preseason. He will be without his starting C O’Hara though, which may cause some issues for the offense.

The Ravens, who some have pegged as a Super Bowl contender, look to keep their undefeated preseason record in tact.

Looking at the betting action, we see 63% of the betting public is backing the Ravens.

Dallas Cowboys vs Houston Texans Wagering Odds

The battle of Texas showcases two high-powered offenses, replete with many weapons. The stars include Tony Romo, Austin Miles, Marion Barber and Jason Witten and for the Texans, they feature Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson. Defensive stops will not be easy in this potential shoot-out.

Currently, 93% of the money is on Houston -3.

Sunday

Pittsburgh Steelers vs Denver Broncos Wagering Odds

The Sunday night match-up has Pittsburgh taking its strong D and ball control offense on the road to Denver.

First round pick, C Pouncey, saw the majority of the time with the first team this week, and look for him to get the start against Denver. Who he will be snapping the ball to is still to be determined.

Coach McDaniels has indicated that the Denver starters will play into the third quarter Sunday night.

Currently 55% of the action is on the Broncos +2.

vince young titans qbThe second full week of NFL preseason wagering games wraps up tonight as the Tennessee Titans host the Arizona Cardinals in the Monday Night Football odds. After tonight’s ESPN contest, only two weeks remain until the games start to actually mean something. Of course, if you bet Arizona (+4), Tennessee (-4), or either side of the current ‘total’ (37) at Sportsbook.com, this game will certainly be meaningful to you.

Titans’ QB Vince Young saw some light work last week against the Seahawks, going 5-6 for 78 yards with an interception. The majority of the reps were split between Chris Simms and rookie Rusty Smith. Chris Johnson had seven yards on five carries including a touchdown, but the Titans were led on the ground by second-year man Javon Ringer who had seven carries for 60 yards.

The Cardinals, on the other hand, completed their late rally from 16 down in the fourth to beat Houston 19-16 in their preseason opener. Matt Leinart got the start for Arizona, going 6-7 for 49 yards, but the Cardinals were rallied by Derek Anderson and John Skelton, a rookie out of Fordham. The Cardinals found a way to win despite being out-gained both in the air, and on the ground by the Texans. Tonight’s game will be an important piece in the puzzle which will decide the eventual starting quarterback in Arizona come Week 1.

Below is a key betting system for tonight’s game. For more NFL wagering key numbers, check out the ‘Team Statistics’ page at Sportsbook.com.

Play Against - Favorites of 3.5 to 10 points (TENNESSEE) - after one or more consecutive wins against the spread, in August games.
(50-23 over the last 10 seasons.) (68.5%, +24.7 units. Rating = 2*)

The straight up record of the team this system pertains to is : (35-38 over the last 10 seasons.)
The average line posted in these games was: Opponent favored by 4.8
The average score in these games was: Team 18.4, Opponent 19.6 (Average point differential = -1.3)
The number of games in which this system covered the spread by 7 or more points was 31 (41.9% of all games.)

The situation’s record this season is: (1-1).
Over the last 3 seasons the situation’s record is: (8-1).
Over the last 5 seasons the situation’s record is: (19-9).
Since 1993 the situation’s record is: (98-70).

The Cardinals could be aided tonight by the quarterback controversy, as both Leinart and Anderson will be looking for a good showing.

Regarding the ‘total’, the Titans have generally been an UNDER type of team under head coach Jeff Fisher historically, but that trend may be turning as they have gone OVER the total in six straight preseason contests.

Kickoff for Monday’s game is set for 8:05 PM ET and it can be seen on ESPN. If you plan pro football wagering on this contest, head over to Sportsbook.com.
