louisville cardinals wageringThe sportsbooks scored a solid win on opening day of the Tournament, with many results falling their way. Players go looking for revenge on Friday.

As we look ahead to Friday, could there be a slight upset in the South Region in the game between the No. 8 California Golden Bears and the No. 9 Louisville Cardinals? The Golden Bears are 1-point sports wagering odds favorites for their tournament opener with the Total set at 149.5.

Cal announced that starting forward Omondi Amoke would be suspended indefinitely citing violation of team rules, although the exact nature of the suspension was not given.

The disciplinary measure will weaken the Golden Bears as “the loss of Amoke, who emerged midseason as a starter for Cal,leaves the Bears with even less muscle than they had against a Louisville team that features a strong, young front court,” according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

The Cal Golden Bears were hot late in the season as they went 9-2 straight up and against the spread in the 11 games leading up to the NCAA championship tournament.

However, they haven’t fared well in their last 10 games when favored by 2-points or less, going 3-7 SU and 3-7 ATS.

Over/Under bettors take note, they have produced 8 Overs and 2 Unders in their last 10 in that situation.

Over in the Midwest, the seventh-seed Oklahoma St. Cowboys will open the tournament with a game against the 10-seed Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The Cowboys are 1.5-point NCAA wagering odds favorites with an Over/Under of 136.5.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets haven’t been very good down the stretch when it comes to rewarding their backers; going only 4-8-1 ATS in their last 13 games overall.

Over/Under Alert: In the Yellow Jackets’ last 13 games when underdogs of 2-points or less, there have been 10 Overs and only 3 Unders. In the Cowboys’ last nine games when favored by 2-points or less, there have been 7 Overs and 2 Unders in that time.

OSU’s last nine games when favored by 2-points or less, they are 7-2 SU and 7-2 ATS.

Friday’s action should deliver another dramatic day of college basketball wagering. Good luck and stop by SPORTSBETTING.COM for their 110% Bonus!

matt bouldin#9 Florida State vs #8 Gonzaga Wagering
Friday, 7:10 pm Eastern – CBS

One of the best games today in the NCAA wagering Tournament should be the evening contest in the West Region as 9th seeded Florida State takes on 8th seeded Gonzaga. It is a matchup of the high scoring Bulldogs against the tough defense of the Seminoles. Gonzaga scores over 77 points per game while Florida State allows just over 60 points per contest. The Seminoles are #1 in the country in field goal percentage defense at 37.4 percent. "They’re a phenomenal defensive team," Gonzaga coach Mark Few said, "that [37.4] figure just jumps out at you." Florida State is a 1.5 point college basketball odds favorite with a total of 132 at SBG Global.

Florida State is led by ACC Defensive Player of the Year Chris Singleton while Gonzaga has West Coast Conference Player of the Year Matt Bouldin. Both teams come into this game off a loss. The Seminoles lost in the first round of the ACC Tournament to NC State while Gonzaga was beaten by St. Mary’s in the WCC title game.

Wake Forest has gotten the action on the college basketball odds board but it is a mystery as to why. Gonzaga has the experience, some talented players and an excellent head coach. Bouldin is their leading scorer and he is supported by WCC Newcomer of the Year Elias Harris.

Florida State wins with defense. They are a big team that is tough to score against. The problem for Florida State has been offense as they have scored fewer than 60 points in seven games. They also turn the ball over a lot and that is a problem. If the game is close the Seminoles could be in trouble since they are a very poor free throw shooting team.

Florida State has not been a good team vs the NCAA basketball odds recently. The Seminoles are just 8-20 ATS in their last 28 games overall.

Florida State has gone under the total in 19 of their last 26 neutral site games. Gonzaga is a team that goes over the total. 12 of their last 15 non-conference games have gone over. In the NCAA Tourney, 16 of their last 21 games have gone over.

ohio bobcats cheerleadersOne game down, one upset…has it started already?

Upsets are always a huge part of the drama around March Madness and the Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions got things rolling with the first small jab. The Golden Lions defeated the Winthrop Eagles 61-44 Tuesday night in the “play-in” game. Online sportsbooks had them listed as 3.5-point wagering odds underdogs heading into the matchup.

Here’s a number to keep in mind if you still haven’t filled out your bracket yet. In the first round of the NCAA basketball wagering tournament, double-digit favorites have a record of 44-1 straight up the last three years…so looking for upsets in those games doesn’t look like the best idea.

How have those double-digit favorites done against the spread in the opening round? They’ve been profitable for the sports betting public, producing a mark of 26-16-3 ATS.

One of the games that fits the above is the Georgetown Hoyas vs the Ohio Bobcats. Ranked 15th and seeded third in the Midwest, the Hoyas open the NCAA championship basketball tournament against the 14-seeded Bobcats. Sportsbook SPORTSBETTING.com has Georgetown as a 13.5-point sports wagering odds favorite and the Total is set at 138.

In Georgetown’s last seven games played in the month of March they are 6-1 ATS. The Ohio Bobcats performed well in the period leading up to March Madness, going 11-1 ATS in their last 12 games and are currently in the midst of a six-game ATS win streak.

Like the Hoyas, the Bobcats are 6-1 ATS in their last seven March games. In the Ohio Bobcats’ last 16 March games, there have been 12 Overs and 4 Unders.

Did you know that since 2002 when a #8 seed has faced a #9 seed, they have produced 21 Overs and only 11 Unders. That’s a pretty strong “Over” trend. Looking at one of those matchups, we have the Wake Forest Demon Deacons and Texas Longhorns (seeded ninth and eighth in the East Region respectively).

The Longhorns are 5-point NCAA wagering odds favorites with the Over/Under set at 146. The Wake Forest Demon Deacons have had bite when listed as underdogs of 6-points or less, going 8-1 ATS.

Texas bettors haven’t shared the fortunes of people who play Wake Forest as the Longhorns are 3-6-1 ATS in their last 10 games when favored by 6-points or less.

It all starts today as March Madness is here…best of luck with all your bets and with your bracket.
