Clottey vs Pacquiao Boxing Wagering Odds

Manny Pacquiao may prefer to be fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr. but he will have to make due going against Joshua Clottey on Saturday. Pacquiao defends his welterweight title against Clottey at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Pacquiao is a 6-1 favorite in boxing wagering odds at SBG Global. Clottey is likely to fight a defensive fight and look to land a big shot. The problem with that strategy is that he can’t win that way if the fight odds goes to a decision. Clottey is also known for doing whatever it takes to win so it would not be a shock to see some holding, head butting and hitting below the belt in this fight. Clottey has drawn blood from a lot of his opponents in the past. Usually that is not done with his power though. It usually happens in some other way. Clottey only has one knockout in his last 11 fights.

Boxing wagering odds heavily favor Pacquiao and if you listen to Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach you would think they should be higher. He has said that Clottey has no chance of winning. “I’ve seen tapes of him (Clottey). He’s not good. He’s not good. He’s got no chance,” Roach said. “Manny’s going to knock him out.” Considering those comments perhaps Pacquiao will get some attention in the odds for a knockout. Instead of laying 6-1 to win the fight, the odds on Pacquiao winning by knockout are about 8-5.

With less than 20 games left in the 2009/10 NBA wagering season, the Cleveland Cavaliers are amongst the favorites to take the Eastern Conference championship and the NBA title. So I don’t see this lingering any longer than it has the last couple of days.”

Wright State vs Butler NCAA Basketball Wagering

The Butler Bulldogs will try and help some of the bubble teams as they face Wright State on Tuesday in the Horizon League Championship. The 12^th ranked Bulldogs are going to make the NCAA Tournament regardless of whether they win on Tuesday or not. If Wright State can pull off the upset though, it would take away an at-large bid from one of the bubble teams. The Raiders have their work cut out for them as Butler has won 19 straight games including both matchups against Wright State this college basketball wagering season. Wright State took out Detroit 69-50 on Saturday to reach the title game of the Horizon League while Butler beat Milwaukee 68-59 to reach the Championship. The Raiders have 20 wins but they will be playing in the NIT unless they upset the Bulldogs.

Butler was not that sharp on Saturday but they still got past Milwaukee. "We weren’t as crisp as we want to be, but they had a lot to do with that," Butler coach Brad Stevens said. "I don’t know if there’s any real rhyme or reason to that, but our guys stayed the course." Butler is 1-4 in title games since 2003 and last year they were beaten by Cleveland State. This year’s Butler team does not want a repeat of what happened in the college basketball wagering title game a year ago and that makes Wright State’s job even tougher since the Bulldogs will not be overlooking them on Tuesday.

Did yesterday’s trade action impact the NHL Future Odds?

The Olympic hockey tournament is in the history books and now the focus turns to the stretch drive in the NHL. If you slept through Wednesday, you didn’t miss much when it came to the NHL trade deadline…nothing even approached the neighborhood of an “epic” deal - although it was the busiest deadline day with 78 assets (players and draft picks) in 30 transactions.

Bubble teams traded in the hopes of making a final push for the playoffs and good teams made deals to fine-tune their rosters, with the Washington Capitals definitely fitting into the latter group.

The top team in the Eastern Conference wagering and the entire league, as of Wednesday afternoon, the Caps have 90 points as well as All-Star Alexander Ovechkin. But while two-time defending MVP Ovechkin continues to be one the NHL’s brightest stars, he hasn’t had as much success as rival and Pittsburgh Penguin Sidney Crosby.

Obviously Washington didn’t acquire any players that are on par with Ovechkin but it did add some very nice complimentary players in the form of right wing Scott Walker, center Eric Belanger and defensemen Joe Corvo and Milan Jurcina.

As it stands, online sportsbooks have the Capitals at +120 odds to take the Eastern Conference and are +375 NHL odds to win the Stanley Cup.

Phoenix Coyotes Wagering

Despite not having a real owner, the NHL-run Phoenix Coyotes are having a fantastic season, sitting third in the Pacific and fifth in the league. If the season ended today Phoenix would be in the playoffs and the team looks like it wants to maintain status quo or better based on the number of moves it made.

Amongst the major deals at the trade deadline, the Coyotes:

-re-acquired defenseman Derek Morris from Boston,

-dealt forward Peter Mueller to Colorado for center/winger Wojtek Wolski,

-added D-man and power play specialist Mathieu Schneider from the Vancouver Canucks for a minor leaguer and a pick and

-traded concussed defenseman Matt Jones and draft picks for Toronto Maple Leafs winger Lee Stempniak.

Unlike the Washington Capitals, the Phoenix Coyotes’ odds aren’t as favorable in NHL futures betting. The NHL wagering odds have Phoenix at +1000 to take the Clarence Campbell trophy as the Western Conference champ this season and +2000 wagering odds to go one step further and win the Stanley Cup.

Fittingly enough, the Coyotes will play one of the teams they did trade deadline business with, the Colorado Avalanche. The two meet in Phoenix on Thursday and the Coyotes have struggled the last nine times they’ve hosted the Avs with a record of 3-6 SU.
