The college football wagering season is at an end as the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide take on the No. 2 Texas Longhorns for BCS supremacy on Thursday at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. Online sportsbooks have Alabama favored by 3.5 sports wagering odds with the Total set at 46.
 
The Crimson Tide captured the SEC title when they defeated the Florida Gators 32-13 in the conference championship game while the Texas Longhorns barely held on to defeat the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the Big 12 championship, winning 13-12.
 
Texas and ‘Bama both own 13-0 records straight up but ‘the Tide are 8-5 against the spread while the Longhorns are 5-7-1 ATS. In Texas’ last 10 games when an underdog of 4-points or less, they are 7-3 SU and a very impressive 7-2-1 ATS. The National Championship wagering odds will also see two Heisman Trophy candidates showcased with 2009 winner and Alabama RB Mark Ingram and Texas Longhorns QB and 2009 candidate Colt McCoy. Both are prominently displayed in BCS championship game-related proposition betting.
 
The Over/Under on McCoy’s “Total Pass Attempts” is 36.5, the O/U for his “Total TD Passes” is 2.5 and the Total for his rushing yards is 30.5. If McCoy scores a rushing TD, it will pay out at +160 and if he doesn’t it will pay at -200. Will Ingram score a TD in the first half? -155 for Yes and +125 for No.
 
Like McCoy, the 2009 Heisman winner is also is featured in a number of Over/Under bets as well. The Over/Under for the number of Ingram’s rushing yards is 99.5 and the O/U for his rushing attempts is 19.5.
 
Alabama star LB Rolando McClain was suffering from a stomach virus but according to Tide head coach Nick Saban, the Butkus Award winner should be ready to go for the title game. “He did not do much in practice [Tuesday], and I think he’s better today, and he’s practiced all year, and I don’t think he’s missed a practice in the three years that he’s been here,” Saban told the USA Today. “But I think he’s capable of recovering and being able to play in the game if he’s medically cleared to play in the game.” If he does take the field, the Over/Under on McClain’s total and assisted tackles is 8.5.

NCAA Football Bowl Wagering Odds

The Alabama Crimson Tide pulled off a tidy upset of the #1 Florida Gators last Saturday, moving into the Championship game. Listed anywhere from as 5.5-point underdogs up to +7, ‘Bama was getting only about 30% of all the betting action by kick-off, according to online sportsbook SPORTSBETTING.com. Bettors took a hit when the Tide defense did a number on Gator QB Tim Tebow enroute to a 32-13 win.
 
Now Nick Saban and his team will prepare to play the Texas Longhorns, who were much less convincing in their BCS title berth showcase.

The near-loss to the ‘Huskers didn’t matter to the BCS selection committee though as the Longhorns were given a berth to the college football championship game in Pasadena to face the Crimson Tide.

The total sites at 44.5, with about 65% of the action so far favoring a play on the “Under”. Bettors have clearly been impressed by this team’s defensive performance all year, but particularly in that matchup with the Gators in the SEC Championship game.

 - In the Crimson Tide’s last 10 games when favored by 6-points or less, they are 6-3-1 against the spread.
 
 - In Texas’ last eight games when underdogs of 6-points or less, they are 6-2 straight up and ATS.

2009 SEC Championship Wagering Odds

florida cheerleadersThe NCAA football wagering schedule hits Week 12 and already attention is focused on the SEC Championship wagering odds game, to be played a couple of weeks from now. It will, barring a complete disaster, be a matchup between the #1 Florida Gators and the #2 Alabama Crimson Tide. Online Sportsbooks currently have the Gators as the wagering odds-on favorite to win the SEC at 5/9, with Alabama sports wagering odds of 7/5.

The BCS’ Top 5 teams remain unchanged from the week previous with the Gators at the top, the Tide No. 2 and the Texas Longhorns, TCU Horned Frogs and Cincinnati Bearcats rounding out the Top 5 in that order.
 
Florida hasn’t deviated from top spot since the BCS wagering odds rankings first came out a little over a month ago and with two more easy games before the conference championship, there is no reason why the Gators shouldn’t remain at the top of the BCS rankings heading into the big game.
 
This week, Florida has a tilt against the Florida International Golden Panthers…this should be a blowout. It is one of the biggest point spread margins of the season, with sportsbooks listing the Gators as 43-point wagering odds favorites.
 
Florida is currently riding an 11-game straight up winning streak. They have recorded a mark of 9-5-1 ATS the last 15 times they’ve been listed as a favorite of 8 points or more, but they’re only 2-5-1 ATS in the last eight in that spread range. Although 43 points is a wild spread to ask a team to cover.
 
Sports bettors are still enamored with the #1 team in the nation, as 74% of all the betting volume on this is laying the 43 points. A quick note on the Total in this one: the last eight times the Gators have been favored by eight points or more, they have a mark of 1 Over, 6 Unders and 1 Push.

All signs point to the Gators being undefeated going into the early-December SEC title match against Alabama.
