curtis painter colts backup qbWeek 2 of the NFL pre-season kicks off tonight with a pair of games. Let’s have a look at the Thursday games, as well as the Friday Eagles vs Bengals NFL preseason wagering odds game.

Thursday, August 19, 2010

You know it’s pre-season when the Bills are favored over the Colts in the 21st Century. The Bills were slaughtered 42-17 in their pre-season opener versus Washington, and they have lost their top two RBs for a month (Jackson and Lynch). Look for a healthy dose of rookie sensation C.J. Spiller Thursday night.

Indy also lost their opener to the 49ers last week. Manning looked strong in his two series and then it was turnover central with the B Team and QB Curtis Painter throwing three picks.

NFL wagering trends currently have 83% of the volume on the Bills at – 3.5.

Both teams won their pre-season opens; the Pats 27-24 over the Saints, and The Falcons 20-10 against the Chiefs. For the second consecutive week, New England conducted a joint practice session with their pre-season opponent prior to the game. The Pats feature two young TEs, Gronkowski and Hernandez and look for a lot of playing time for rookie LB Sean Weatherspoon.

The Falcons focus is on evaluating their younger players and to play smarter than last week with eight penalties for 61 yards. Mike Smith is expecting the starters to play between 18-20 snaps.

Currently 86% of the money is on the Pats +2.5.

Cincy lost the Hall of Game to Dallas 16-7. Coach Lewis has stated that their first team will play longer than they did in that game, with most starters going half way into the second quarter.

Philly won their opener 28-27 against the visiting Jaguars. Their first team defense looked strong getting only six plays, with two- 3 and outs. Look for the starters to play as much as two quarters.

Currently 88% of the action is on the Eagles +3.

Enjoy the games.

Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints (+700) - Brees makes the most sense to become the league’s MVP this year due to the fact that he is going to be called upon the most to lead his team to the playoffs. There really is no doubt that the Saints are going to the second season, which is usually a prerequisite for winning this award.

In spite of the fact that names like Brady and Manning are still at the tops of their games, we tend to believe that Brees might be the best thing going right now.

Is 5,000 passing yards out of the equation? We aren’t ones to doubt the defending champs.

Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers (+900) - If you really believe that the Chargers are going to throw the ball an even higher percentage of the time this year than they did last year, Rivers might be the man to look at.

There is no doubt that the former member of the NC State Wolfpack is worth at least a good look, as he is probably going to be used more on the goal line now that RB LaDainian Tomlinson is gone.

HC Norv Turner probably trusts his veteran quarterback with the ball near the end zone a lot more than he does a scat back (Darren Sproles) or a rookie (Ryan Mathews).

With TE Antonio Gates and WR Vincent Jackson both capable of 1,500 yard seasons, Rivers is a logical choice for the league’s MVP.

Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys (+1200) - Romo has a new weapon at his disposal this year with WR Dez Bryant in the fold, and that could be just the kick he needs to become a legitimate MVP selection.

Romo knows he can throw for 5,000 yards if need be, and with this type of an offense, OC Jason Garrett will be perfectly content to let him throw the ball 40-45 times if need be for the Cowboys to triumph.

If Dallas wins the NFC East this year, it is going to be on Romo’s right arm; He’s a great MVP selection at these nfl wagering odds!

Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens (+1800) - Flacco is a bit of a longshot, particularly for as much as RBs Ray Rice and Willis McGahee run the ball, but with WR Anquan Boldin now in his arsenal of weapons, Flacco has no excuse not to bring the purple and black back to the playoffs in 2010.

Baltimore has a very manageable schedule as well, and getting to the playoffs will almost certainly yield at least one MVP candidate.

Flacco seems like the most logical choice with both the rushing game and receiving duties being split relatively evenly.

colts hot cheerleadersNew Orleans Saints vs Indianapolis Colts Wagering Odds

A high scoring game is expected on Sunday when the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts meet in Super Bowl XLIV Wagering Odds at 6:25pm ET live on CBS. The Saints had the top-ranked offense in the NFL this season led by Drew Brees while the Colts have perhaps the best quarterback in the game in Peyton Manning. Oddsmakers seem to think there will be a lot of scoring as the total is the highest in Super Bowl history. Indianapolis is a 4.5 point NFL wagering odds favorite with a total of 56.5 at SBG Global.

Indianapolis will be trying to win their second Super Bowl title in the last four years while it will be the first-ever Super Bowl for the Saints. The Saints may not have the experience edge but they do have Brees who led the NFL with a 109.8 passer rating this season. He threw for 4,388 yards and led the league with 34 touchdown passes and the Saints led the league at 31.9 points per game. The Colts were seventh, averaging 26 points per game. "You understand just how explosive their offense can be," Manning said. "I think you have to be careful trying to get out of your rhythm in order to keep up with them. You still have to go play offense the way we have played all year, trying to be efficient. We have been excellent on third down, been good in the red zone. Those things will be important this year." Manning was second in the league with 4,500 yards and 33 TD passes. He has been virtually flawless in the NFL wagering playoffs this season with a 104.6 passer rating, throwing five TDs and only one interception.

Much of the attention this past week has been on Indianapolis defensive end Dwight Freeney’s ankle. He could play but won’t be at full strength. "I think he’ll be back and playing third downs. And I think he’ll be effective, until I see something different," said Raheem Brock. The Colts have the defensive edge in this game as they were eighth in the league allowing 19.2 points per game while the Saints were 20th, allowing 21.3 points per game.

The Saints are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 NFL wagering odds games as an underdog. The Saints are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Colts are 7-1-1 ATS in their last 9 games as a favorite. The Colts are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 playoff games. The Over is 5-0-1 in the Saints last 6 playoff games. The Over is 5-1 in the Colts last 6 games overall.
